I thought that the use of Rocky Horror Picture Show to represent Spenser's
themes in a modern perspective was a useful tool. The fact that Spenser's
themes were still relevant ones in the 1970's is an example of how society has
not evolved as much as we would like to believe. Instead of the main villian
representing Catholicism, in Rocky Horror, the villian represents a fear of the
unknown and a fear of homosexuality. I think it is a relevant point to make
that the Catholic church is adamently against homosexuality. In that sense,
from the view point of the writers of the film, the villian can still be viewed
as Catholicism.
