Subject: Queen Elizabeth
Queen Elizabeth was an interesting lady when it came to her social
life. She was always trying to keep the people who were hounding her on
their toes. I feel that she did all of these things to keep in control of
her life. To control the queen's life is what everyone else wanted
anyway. They wanted her to marry so there would be no questions of who
would follow her as queen or king. Obviously they wanted her to have a
son with her husband so he would take over the throne. I feel that the
queen never married and had children because she was constantly pressured
to do so. She was a strong woman with her own ideals. She was not about
to marry just because a group of hippocritical men wanted her to. She
did not feel that her people felt that she must get married. She always
said that she was married to her people.
Think of the pressure that she was under. She was not only the
Queen of England, but she was constantly hounded about marriage and having
a son. It seems that having that type of pressure put on getting married
would make it a horrible experience. The queen had men coming to her
daily and she had men sending men to her daily. It was basically like men
all over interviewing for a single job. That is where my main question
comes in. Did Queen Elizabeth not marry because she wanted to be in
control of her own life, or because Dudley, Walsingham, and others took
the love right out of her? If anyone can answer that question for me I
would appreciate a response.
