Clips Art, Images, and Media
This page contains links to clip pages that people have found particularly useful. If you would like to add a link to this page, send me the URL (kalmbach@ilstu.edu).
If you use a graphic that you find on the web, be sure include a credit for that image with a url, just as you would site any source. See my page on giving credit for strategies.
Graphic Search Engines
- Google Images Google has the best search engine by far.
- Altavista Image Search
- Search.com Image Search
- Creative Commons Has a search engine you can use to try to locate content that people have made available under a creative commons license. You can search for audio, images, video, or text.
Starting Points
- Anthony's WWW Images. Large open source collection of images. A huge collection.
- Free Graphics What is cool about this site is the effort the author has put into categorizing and filtering these sites. It can take a while to get to real pictures, but the results are almost always worth it.
- e-server multi-media collection
Image Databases
I only include databases which permit downloading of their
images for personal, research, or noncommercial use.
- NASA Image library
- http://www.archive.org/ Lots of searchable public domain archives.
- flickr has an advanced search engine where you can search for only images that are tagged with a creative commons license. Your favorite picture site might have a similar feature. While you can use creative commons licensed media in your class projects, you should always credit your sources.
Textures and Backgrounds
- Absolute Textures and Backgrounds - great site for backgrounds - has everything imaginable
- Squidfingers.
