As a second year Master student at Illinois State University my education, as well as my work experience, has played an active role in providing me with the tools necessary to fulfill any task an employer may ask of me.

MA Professional Writing; Technical Writing Concentration (May 1999)
Illinois State University - English Department

Through courses and teaching at Illinois State I have had terrific opportunities to improve my writing skills and techniques, to improve my communication skills, and to increase my knowledge base. I find myself at home with Technical Writing, drawing from my background in Engineering, and the courses I have taken enable me to combine my two passions: technology and writing.

Graduate English (Spring 1997)
SUNY at Binghamton
I attended Binghamton University as a non-matriculated graduate student during the spring semester until I could apply to a writing program. While there I took a rhetorical grammar class which greatly increased my knowledge of grammar usage and specific rhetorical incidence. I also enrolled in two other seminars to explore and gain experience in writing fiction and poetry .

BS Aeronautical Engineering (May 1996) Clarkson University - Aeronautical & Mechanical Engineering Department
A love of science, math, technology, and flying led me to seek a career in Aeronautical Engineering and the Air Force. As I realized (through a brief stint in ROTC) that a life in the military was not what I was looking for I held onto my belief that I would still be able to create innovative designs for aircraft. As my view of the world and of myself changed, other passions blossomed, such as writing and photography, and I searched for a way to combine my scientific training with my creativity, thus I turned to the Humanities.

BS Humanities (May 1996)
Clarkson University - Humanities and Social Sciences Department
Obtaining a second Bachelor Degree in the Humanities at Clarkson allowed my creativity to develop. I began taking extra humanities courses, largely made up of literature and communications classes, in my sophomore year. By the time I graduated I realized that writing had become a passion and that it was something I wanted to pursue further.

Semester Abroad - Aeronautical Engineering/Humanities (Spring 1994)
City University London, England
As an undergraduate student at Clarkson I was privileged to be able to participate in the Semester Abroad Program. It was a wonderful experience in learning to adapt to new places and situations. The experience only fueled my love for travel and willingness to move to new areas.
