English Education students enjoy Little Village after completing their urban clinical experience at Farragut Career Academy.

Ten teacher candidates enrolled in English 296, The Teaching of Literature, recently completed their urban clinical experience at Farragut Career Academy in Chicago. Each candidate spent the day assisting a staff member in the English Department. In the afternoon, these students enjoyed dinner with a local community member who addressed questions regarding life and learning in Little Village.

Three of the ten teacher candidates participating in the urban clinical experience will student teach in the Chicago Public Schools. Nearly half the students enrolled in English 296 elected to participate in the urban clinical experience, a new option for English teacher candidates.
