The Department of English is proud to announce that Katherine Norcross has been named the College of Arts and Sciences Commencement speaker for spring 2010. Katherine has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Studies, with a minor in writing. Next year she will attend graduate school at the University of Illinois in Urbana, studying English and medieval literature with the goal of becoming a college professor. Norcross is the 2009-2010 recipient of the Neil and Joan Styczynski Scholarship. Upon transferring to Illinois State University from Heartland Community College, she was the recipient of a Community College Transfer Scholarship. She is an active member and officer of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society, and presented a paper at the organization’s annual national conference last month in St. Louis. In addition to her studies at ISU, she works as a tutor in mathematics and English at Heartland Community College.
