Damian Duffy Guest Speaker

The English Department is proud to present guest speaker Damian Duffy. On Thursday, October 13 at 11:00 a.m., Duffy will be speaking on his co-edited book, Black Comix in the CVA University Galleries.

The event is free and open to the public.

Cartoonist, writer, and comics letterer, Duffy is a PhD student in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Graduate School of Library and Information Science, and a founder of the Eye Trauma Comix collective. His first published graphic novel is The Hole: Consumer Culture. Duffy has curated several comics art shows and co-edited the art book Black Comix: African American Independent

. He has published academic essays-in-comics-form about curation, new media, diversity, and critical pedagogy. Duffy continues to give talks and lead workshops about comics, art, and education internationally.
