The Department of English at Illinois State University is pleased to welcome author and scholar Dr. Hillary Chute as its guest speaker for this year's Spring English Studies Lecture.

Dr. Chute, a Faculty Fellow at the University of Chicago's Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality and director of its Artists’ Salon project, also serves as faculty co-sponsor of the American Literatures and Cultures workshop.

Dr. Chute is the author of Graphic Women: Life and Contemporary Comics (Columbia UP 2010) and associate editor of Art Spiegelman's MetaMaus: A Look Inside a Modern Classic (Pantheon 2011). In addition to her publishing credits, she founded the MLA Discussion group on Comics and Graphic Narratives 2009 and has published articles in PMLA, Mfs: Modern Fiction Studies, Twentieth-Century Literature, and Women's Studies Quarterly.
