On February 28th, the Fourth Annual Medieval Poetry Reading sponsored by the Institute for Medieval Languages and Literatures, drew the largest audience in its four-year history. Congratulations are due to both Dr. Susan Kim and Dr. K. Aaron Smith for their committment to the Institute and their tireless efforts in presenting the annual reading each spring.
The program opened with readings by Megan Gregory from the Metamorphoses and Dr. K. Aaron Smith from the Aeneid. Audience members also heard from Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures Chair Dr. Bruce Burningham and AssociateProfessors Dr. Lorie Heggie, and Dr. Jonathan Durker.
Presenting in Old English were Dr. Carol Lind, reading her original piece Uncer Giedd Geador, and daughter Libby Barna, who read Thryth. Dr. Susan Kim entertained with an Old Norse reading of the Havamal and an Old Irish reading from the Prayer for Tears.
Additional readers for the evening included Gina Cooke, Charli Jacoby, Adam Weimerslage, Justin Williams and Marissa Welch, Shoshanna Van Tres and Jessica Zhang.
