Building on the success of the last three years, Drs. Susan Kim and K. Aaron Smith announce the Fourth Annual Medieval Poetry Reading sponsored by the Institute for Medieval Languages and Literatures.

Undergraduates, graduate students, alumni and faculty members read and recite poems in a wide range of medieval languages as well as poems in Present Day English connecting to the medieval period.

In previous readings languages represented have included Latin, Old French, Old Spanish, Old Norse, Old English, Old Irish, Arabic, Turkish, Middle High German, and Middle Dutch.  The texts included excerpts from Virgil, al-Mutanabi, Ovid, Rumi, Hadewijch and Gottfried von Strassburg as well as passages from the Song of Roland, the Cid, the Old English charms, the poems of the Exeter Book, and Ragnarsdrapa.  Audience members should expect the same wide range of selections for this year's event.
