From Ryan Edel's homage to the modern dinasour to Brook Burns' biting indictment of the Pro Life Movement with her call for for a National Abortion Day, the audience enjoyed a plethora of readings in the Creative Writing Program's 2nd Annual Word Bombing vol.2.
Organized by graduate students Jordan Cox, Alan Lin, and Evan Nave with faculty advisor Ricardo Cruz, the event brought together university students and faculty as well as alumni and members of the community to create an evening of sometimes tragic, sometimes funny readings of both poetry and prose. The program's design is to bring writers to the podium in succession without individual introduction to read pieces of original writing of 5 minutes or less. The result is a single work comprised of a diverse range of individual voices.
With the success of this year's presentation, the department looks forward to "Word Bombing" as an annual event in the years to come.
