The Illinois State Writing Project has received a $20,000 competitive federal seed grant to support the creation of a network of secondary writing centers throughout central Illinois.
During 2012-2013, the grant will fund programming that assists a cohort of 20 middle and high school teachers to design and implement student-staffed writing centers in their schools.
The successful proposal was co-authored by Julie Cheville, Director of English Education, and Amy Reiman, an English teacher at University High School, who is also a graduate student in our MA in English program.
