Welcome to Bob Broad's home page
My full name is Robert Lavery Broad, which has a nice ring to it. That name also records my matriarchal as well as my patriarchal lines. Still, as a modest counter-weight to the self-serious tendencies of the academy, I've chosen to make my informal name (Bob) my professional name.
I am a Professor of English at Illinois State University, teaching graduate courses in rhetoric & composition, writing assessment, research methods, and pedagogy as well as a variety of undergraduate courses in writing, English Studies, and English Education.
My research interests include writing assessment, qualitative research methods, rhetorical theories, and composition pedagogy.
