Course Description:

English 560 is the required doctoral seminar in literature. The catalog describes the seminar as "Research in selected areas of literary study with attention to curricular and teaching theories." In the current seminar, we will explore the historical development of theories of aesthetics in modernity and late modernity, focusing especially on the relationship between aesthetics and ideology, with attention to the curricular and pedagogical implications of this relationship.
