Who Is My Advisor?

Freshmen

English majors and minors with less than 24 credit-hours are advised in the University College Academic Advisement Center. Honors students in English with less than 24 credit-hours are advised in the Honors Office.

English Studies and Publishing Studies Sequences

Majors in the English Studies and Publishing studies sequences with 24 or more credit-hours are advised in the English Department by Mark Vegter.

English Education Sequence

Majors in the English Education sequence are advised in the English Department by Ryan Gray.

Minors

Minors in the English Department are advised by Ryan Gray.

Non-English majors and minors with questions regarding English courses (for example, General Education, English 101/145, Children’s Literature, etc) should see Mark Vegter.

Scheduling an Appointment

To schedule an appointment with an English Department Academic Advisor, follow the steps below.

• Go to Advising Forms and find the Plan of Study sheet that corresponds with your major or minor.
• Using Progress Towards My Degree on iCampus, note what course requirements you have already fulfilled.
• Check your advisor's schedule for open appointments; any time labeled "Student Appointment" is available for an advising appointment.
• To schedule an appointment, contact the English Department Secretary with your first and second choice day and time. Please include your UID number and a brief reason for the appointment.
• Please arrive at leaste 5 minutes early and wait in STV 414F, the English Advising reception area.
