Illinois Association of Teachers of English (IATE)
IATE serves teachers of English in the State of Illinois through a variety of activities and publications. In addition to the annual fall conference, IATE members partake in local activities throughout the year and participate on standing committees that promote the interests of the IATE and its 1500 members.

National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE)
NCTE promotes the development of literacy, the use of language to construct personal and public worlds and to achieve full participation in society, through the learning and teaching of English and the related arts and sciences of language.

National Writing Project
The National Writing Project (NWP) is a professional development network that serves teachers of writing at all grade levels, primary through university, and in all subjects. The mission of the NWP is to improve student achievement by improving the teaching of writing and improving learning in the nation’s schools.

The Illinois State Board of Education provides leadership, assistance, resources and advocacy so that every student is prepared to succeed in careers and postsecondary education, and shares accountability for doing so with districts and schools.
