Biography

I’m the author of three books: la distancia es siempre la misma (2006, Editorial Matalamanga), el cerrajero (2012, Álbum del Universo Bakterial), open pit (2022, Counterpath Press); and two books of translations, Album of Fences (2018, Cardboard House Press), tajo abierto (Álbum del Universo Bakterial, 2023). I’m also the creator of the AMLT project (http://amlt-elcomienzo.blogspot.pe). I hold an MFA in Writing from the University of California San Diego, and a PhD in Literature (Creative/Critical Concentration) from the University of California Santa Cruz. Dear Excelsior, is forthcoming from Álbum del Universo Bakterial (Peru) in May 2027. My translation of Sanzu into English is forthcoming from co-im-press in 2028. I’m currently an Assistant Professor in the English Department at Illinois State University, where I teach Creative Nonfiction and Documentary Poetics.
