5 Core Courses (15 credits)
Core required classes scaffold your ability to explore an area of specialized inquiry that emerges from your teaching practice and context. You'll develop, conduct, and disseminate your findings from a teacher action research study that strengthens your equitable, inclusive instruction. Gather suppport for you research process through enrollment in the follow courses:

ENG 438 Assessing and Analyzing Diverse Student Literacy Data(3 c.)

5 Elective Courses (15 credits)
Stengthen your disciplinary knowledge through five elective courses that enable you to choose from courses in various subfields of English studies, including but not limited to composition, creative writing, English education, linguistics, literature, publishing studies, rhetoric, teaching English language learners (ELL) or TESOL, as well as young adult and children's literature.
Thesis Credits (4 credits)
Experience individualized mentorship with English education and studies faculty as you
write about your action research study findings,
identify a professional adience to disseminate your findings, and in so doing
advocate for more equitable, inclusive ELA instruction in your classroom, school, district, or larger community.

Tailor courses to fulfill the requirements for dual enrollment teaching at your school and its partnering college or university.
Join ELA teacher colleagues as you support one another's learning and research in your journey together. Colleagues' diverse perspectives, feedback, knowledges, identities, and questions will enhance your learning experience.
Come together with program faculty and colleagues for a required, in-person annual summer retreat for a rich opportunity to gather, build communit, co-construct new understandings, explore shared learning in the company of a leading English education scholar, and launch shared coursework.
